2023 ESG is dead

A rather scathing article:
- ESG “created the elements of its own demise”
- “…even environmental advocates think the term has outlived its usefulness”
- “meaningless checklists”
- “…this acronym, ESG, should go away.”
- ”There were companies built on selling ESG information, ESG-related conferences and it got worn out,”
Ouch!
The proposed solution:
- “We need to regulate climate disclosure and create metrics that are verifiable and standardized, and available to investors and to consumers,”
The problem is the emphasis on the ‘E’
ESG as a tool for marketing investments latched on to the trendiness of Environmental sustainability. Carbon footprint, etc.
But ESG is designed for all three components (Environment, Social, Governance) to work a balanced triad.
